Your Week, Day by Day

  • A One Life Hike It representative will welcome you at Girona Airport or Train Station and transfer you the short distance to Llafranc — the seaside village where your journey begins.

Tonight and tomorrow you stay at Hotel Mas Pastora — a beautifully restored 18th-century Catalan farmhouse, adults-only, set in peaceful gardens a five-minute walk from the beach. Saltwater pool, quiet rooms, and space to decompress after the journey.

Settle in, wander down to the seafront for dinner (we'll recommend our favourites), and take in your first sunset over the Mediterranean.

  • Your first full walking day, on a loop from Llafranc that takes in some of the prettiest coves on the Costa Brava.

The path follows the coast south into Calella de Palafrugell — the fishing village that became the Costa Brava's first artists' colony — and on into Cap Roig National Park, where the landscape is protected from development and the coves feel almost private. You'll pass Cala Castell, one of the quietest beaches on this stretch of coast, and can stop for a swim or a snorkel wherever the water looks right.

If you want to extend the day, wander through the Botanical Gardens of Cap Roig — terraced gardens that drop down toward the sea with sculpture, flowers, and views.

Back in Llafranc for the evening. Dinner by the water.

Short Route: 10 km Long Route: 14 km Elevation Gain: 327 m

  • A morning walk along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Catalan coast. You'll climb gently to the Lighthouse of Sant Sebastià for views over the Mediterranean and the distant Pyrenees, then follow the coastal path past hidden coves and pine forest — with a swim stop at Cala Pedrosa and a seafood lunch in the fishing village of Tamariu if you want to take your time.

The walk ends in Begur, the hilltop town with the ruined castle and the cobbled streets. We meet you there and drive you the short distance down to Hotel Finca Victoria, your home for the next two nights — a 5-star retreat tucked above Sa Riera beach, with a spa, seasonal pool, and a Michelin-starred restaurant led by Chef Jordi Vilà.

    Distance: 10.2 km

    Elevation Gain: 415 m

  • No walking today. The hotel is the point.

Spa, seasonal pool, Michelin-starred lunch at Al Kostat del Mar, or a short wander down to Sa Riera beach. A day to slow down, sleep well, and remember why you came.

If you want to stretch your legs, the coastal path from the hotel leads to quiet coves within fifteen minutes in either direction. Swim, read, repeat.

  • The most dramatic coastal walking day of the trip.

From Finca Victoria the path heads north through pine forest and past hidden coves, winding into Aiguafreda — a small cliff-backed bay with a row of whitewashed fishermen's houses. From there you continue to Sa Tuna, one of the prettiest fishing coves on the Costa Brava, where you'll stop for lunch at one of the beachfront restaurants. The seafood here is some of the best on the coast.

After lunch the trail turns inland and climbs through woodland up to Begur — the hilltop town with the ruined castle, the cobbled lanes and the galleries. You'll arrive in the late afternoon with time to explore before dinner.

Tonight you stay at Hotel La Bionda — a beautifully restored boutique hotel in the heart of the old town, with just eight rooms, a quiet design-led feel, and Begur's best restaurants on the doorstep.

Distance: approx. 11 km Elevation Gain: approx. 450 m

  • The walk inland from the coast into the Empordà — the wine country that Catalans hold quietly close.

You'll leave Begur and head through gentle countryside and the terraced rice fields that give Pals its name. Pals itself is a 9th-century walled village of Romanesque towers, cobbled lanes and Gothic arcades. Pause here for lunch at one of the small restaurants in the old square — we'll point you to our favourites.

From Pals the path continues gently through the countryside and ends at Mas de Torrent Hotel & Spa — an 18th-century Catalan noble house, quietly regarded as one of Spain's finest hotels. Suites with private gardens — some with their own pools — a full 5-star spa, and a restaurant led by award-winning chef Ramon Freixa.

Home for your final two nights.

    Distance: approx. 10.5 km

    Elevation Gain: approx. 150 m

  • Your last full day, and the rhythm is yours.

Walk or transfer the short distance to Peratallada — the medieval "carved stone" village, famous for its towers and fortified walls. Wander the lanes, lunch in the square, and return to Mas de Torrent in the afternoon.

Or don't. The spa, the gardens, the pool, a long lunch on the terrace — this is the day the trip has been building toward.

Optional guided add-ons available: an Empordà vineyard tour, an e-bike ride through the countryside, the Dalí Museum in Figueres, or a day in Cadaqués. Just let us know.

  • A final breakfast at Mas de Torrent, then we'll collect you from the hotel and transfer you to Girona Airport or train station. Transfers to Barcelona Airport are available on request.

Or stay on. We can extend your final night — or add an extra one at any of your favourite hotels from the week — if you're not quite ready to leave.
