One Life, Hike It — Terms and Conditions
Last updated: April 2026
Definitions
"Company", "we", "us", "our" means Jamie Kerr trading as One Life, Hike It ("OLHI"), operating from Catalonia, Spain.
"Customer", "you", "your", "guest", "participant" means any individual who books, pays for, or participates in a holiday, tour, or service offered by OLHI.
"Holiday" means the walking holiday package or any service supplied by OLHI.
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. By making a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted them on behalf of yourself and all members of your travelling party.
1. Bookings and Confirmation
1.1 A booking is considered confirmed only upon receipt of the deposit specified in Section 5.
1.2 Unpaid or unconfirmed reservations will be cancelled seven (7) days after the initial request.
1.3 Optional services such as transfers, private experiences, dietary arrangements, or additional nights must be requested in writing at the time of booking. Once confirmed, these are binding and subject to the same cancellation terms as the main booking.
1.4 All guests must be aged 18 years or older.
1.5 The lead guest (the person making the booking) confirms they have authority to accept these terms on behalf of all members of their party and is responsible for all payments relating to the booking.
2. Health and Physical Fitness
By booking, you confirm that you are physically fit and free from any medical condition that could affect your ability to participate safely in walking and hiking activities. You understand that this holiday requires a moderate level of fitness, with daily walking distances of up to 16 km and elevation gains of up to 500 m. You will consult a medical professional in advance if you have any doubt about your fitness for the activities described, and you will disclose to OLHI any chronic medical conditions or physical limitations before departure.
3. Travel Insurance (Mandatory)
Travel insurance is compulsory for all our walking holidays. You must provide us with your policy details no later than 60 days before the trip start date, at the same time as your balance payment.
Your policy must include, as a minimum, cover for overseas medical treatment and emergency evacuation, personal belongings and travel disruption, and trip cancellation and curtailment including cover for pre-existing conditions where relevant. Because our holidays involve walking and hiking, please ensure your policy explicitly covers these activities. Standard travel insurance often excludes activity-related claims, so it is essential to check this carefully.
Adventure-specific providers many of our guests have used include True Traveller for UK and European residents, and World Nomads or Rise + Shield for international travellers. Please make sure your chosen policy meets your individual needs and covers all aspects of your trip.
Failure to provide proof of a compliant policy by the 60-day deadline constitutes a material breach of these terms, and OLHI may cancel the booking with the applicable cancellation charge under Section 6 applied. OLHI accepts no liability for losses that would have been covered had you held appropriate insurance.
4. Travel Documents
You are responsible for ensuring you hold a valid passport with at least six (6) months' validity beyond your date of return, and any necessary visas, entry permits, or health documentation required for entry into Spain. OLHI cannot be held liable for any costs, losses, or missed services resulting from inadequate travel documentation.
5. Payment Structure
The total price of your holiday is split as follows. Deposit of 25% of the total is due at the time of booking and is non-refundable. Balance of 75% of the total is due 60 days before the trip start date.
5.1 The deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances other than a cancellation by OLHI under Section 8.
5.2 Bookings made within 60 days of the trip start date require payment in full at the time of booking.
5.3 Failure to make the balance payment by the 60-day due date constitutes a cancellation by you at that date, and the 100% cancellation charge under Section 6 applies. You will forfeit the deposit and remain liable for the balance in full.
5.4 All prices are quoted in Euros (€). Payments made in other currencies are subject to exchange rate fluctuations; you are responsible for any bank or currency conversion fees.
5.5 For bookings made 9 or more months in advance, we are happy to arrange an optional three-stage payment plan on request. Please enquire at the time of booking.
6. Cancellation by the Customer
The 25% deposit is non-refundable. It is never returned to you if you cancel, whatever the reason, whenever you cancel. The only exception is a cancellation by OLHI under Section 8.
Whether you also lose the 75% balance depends on when you cancel.
Cancel more than 60 days before the trip start date. You lose only the 25% deposit. The balance is not yet due, so nothing further is owed.
Cancel 60 days or fewer before the trip start date, or do not show up. No cash refund will be issued. You will lose the full 100%, being both the 25% deposit and the 75% balance. If you have not yet paid the balance, it remains due in full and is payable within 14 days.
However, at OLHI's sole discretion, the amount you have paid may be applied as a credit towards a future OLHI walking holiday, subject to the conditions in clause 6.6 below. This option is offered on a case-by-case basis and is not a right.
All cancellations must be made in writing to info@onelifehike.com. The cancellation date is the date we receive your written notice.
6.1 Where non-recoverable supplier costs at the date of cancellation exceed the amount retained under the terms above, you will be liable for the actual non-recoverable amount. OLHI will provide a written breakdown of committed supplier costs on request.
6.2 Where you hold travel insurance with trip cancellation cover as required under Section 3, you may be able to recover these amounts from your insurer depending on the reason for cancellation. Recovery from your insurer is a matter between you and your insurer and does not affect your liability to OLHI.
6.3 Cancellations arising from circumstances personal to you, or from events that do not directly affect Catalonia, are subject to the terms above in full regardless of cause. This includes, without limitation, illness, injury, bereavement, family emergencies, employment changes, financial changes, changes of mind, fear of travel, armed conflict or political tension in other countries or regions, terrorist incidents outside Spain, disease outbreaks not officially declared a public health emergency for Catalonia by competent Spanish or EU authorities, natural disasters in other regions, currency movements, changes in exchange rates, and governmental travel advisories issued by countries other than Spain that do not specifically restrict travel to Spain. Travel insurance under Section 3 is the sole and appropriate mechanism for recovering these losses.
6.4 By making a booking you specifically acknowledge and agree that the events described in 6.3 do not entitle you to a refund, credit voucher, waiver, deferral, or reduction of any amount due under any circumstances. You confirm that you have secured, or will secure before the balance is due, travel insurance sufficient to cover these risks. Any dispute over whether an event directly affects Catalonia will be determined solely by reference to official statements from Spanish national authorities, the Generalitat de Catalunya, or competent EU bodies, and not by media reports, foreign government advisories, or personal assessment.
6.5 Any amounts payable under this Section 6 are due within 14 days of the cancellation date. Amounts already held by OLHI will be retained and applied first. Any shortfall remains a debt due from you to OLHI and may be pursued through the competent courts of Catalonia under Section 14.
6.6 Rebooking Credit at OLHI's Discretion. Where OLHI agrees to apply amounts you have paid as a credit towards a future booking following a cancellation inside 60 days of the trip start date, all of the following conditions apply.
(a) Your written rebooking request must be received by OLHI no later than 30 days before the original trip start date. Requests received later than this, or after a no-show, will not be considered and the full amount paid is forfeited under Section 6.
(b) The new trip start date must be at least 6 months after the date of your rebooking request, to allow OLHI sufficient time to confirm hotel and supplier availability.
(c) The credit must be used against a new trip that starts no later than 12 months from the date of your original cancelled trip.
(d) The credit is applied against the current price of the new trip at prevailing hotel and supplier rates. Any increase in cost is payable by you at the time of confirming the new booking. Any decrease in cost is not refunded and cannot be paid out in cash.
(e) Only one rebooking is permitted per original booking. Any subsequent cancellation of the rebooked trip forfeits the credit in full.
(f) If the 75% balance has not been paid at the time of the original cancellation, it remains due in full and must be settled before any rebooking can be processed.
(g) If you do not confirm and pay for a new trip within 12 months of your original cancelled trip start date, the credit is forfeited in full with no further right to rebook or refund.
(h) The offer of a rebooking credit is entirely at OLHI's sole discretion, is made on a case-by-case basis, and does not constitute an obligation, entitlement, or precedent for any past or future booking.
7. Rebookings and Transfers
7.1 Requests to change the trip dates for a confirmed booking, before any cancellation, must be made in writing at least 90 days before the original trip start date.
7.2 Rebookings are subject to availability and incur an administrative fee of €100 per person, plus any increase in supplier costs such as hotel rate differences between the original and new dates. Any decrease in supplier costs is not refunded.
7.3 Rebooking requests received less than 90 days before the original trip start date will be treated as a cancellation, and the terms of Section 6 will apply. Where the cancellation falls inside 60 days of the trip start date, a rebooking credit may be considered at OLHI's discretion under clause 6.6, subject to the 6-month notice requirement in that clause.
7.4 You may transfer your booking to another person at least 30 days before the trip start date, subject to OLHI's agreement and a €100 per person administrative fee. The original and substitute guests are jointly liable for any outstanding payments.
8. Cancellation by OLHI / Force Majeure
8.1 OLHI reserves the right to cancel or modify a booking only in circumstances of force majeure, meaning unavoidable and extraordinary events officially recognised by Spanish national authorities, the Generalitat de Catalunya, or competent EU bodies as materially preventing safe travel to or within Catalonia during the holiday period. This includes, but is not limited to, natural disasters within Catalonia, outbreak of hostilities on Spanish territory, public health emergencies formally declared by competent authorities for Catalonia, significant civil unrest within Catalonia, or Spanish government travel restrictions affecting travel to or within the destination.
8.2 In such circumstances you will be offered a choice of rebooking to an alternative date within 12 months at no additional administrative charge, a credit voucher for the full value of monies received valid for 12 months, or a refund of monies received less any non-recoverable costs already paid or committed to suppliers on your behalf.
8.3 OLHI is not liable for consequential losses such as flights, connecting travel, lost earnings, or incidental expenses arising from a cancellation under this clause. These losses should be recovered through your travel insurance.
8.4 Events occurring outside Catalonia that do not directly prevent your travel to or participation in the holiday do not constitute force majeure under this clause. This includes, without limitation, armed conflict or political instability abroad, terrorism outside Spain, disease outbreaks not officially declared a public health emergency affecting Catalonia by competent Spanish or EU authorities, natural disasters in other regions, and travel advisories issued by countries other than Spain that do not specifically restrict travel to Spain. Standard customer cancellation terms under Section 6 apply in all such cases.
9. Credit Vouchers
9.1 Credit vouchers may be offered at OLHI's sole and absolute discretion as a goodwill gesture in circumstances not otherwise covered by these terms. The offer of a voucher does not reduce, waive, or defer any amount due under Section 6 unless expressly stated in writing by OLHI at the time the voucher is issued.
9.2 Where offered, credit vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue, non-transferable, and non-refundable for cash. The voucher may be applied to any future OLHI booking. If the new booking costs more than the voucher value, you will pay the difference at the time of booking. If the new booking costs less than the voucher value, the unused portion is forfeited and will not be paid out in cash.
9.3 The offer of a credit voucher in any specific instance is entirely at OLHI's discretion, is made on a case-by-case basis, and does not constitute an obligation, entitlement, or precedent for any past or future booking. No guest may cite a previous voucher issued to themselves or to any other party as grounds for a similar offer.
10. Our Responsibility and Limitations
10.1 OLHI will use reasonable skill and care in arranging the services described in your holiday itinerary.
10.2 OLHI is not liable for injuries, illnesses, or accidents occurring during walking, hiking, or free-time activities; losses caused by weather, animals, or natural conditions; loss, theft, or damage to personal property; or delays, changes, or failures of third-party services such as flights, public transport, or restaurants not booked by OLHI.
10.3 Damage caused by you to hotel property, transfer vehicles, or equipment will be charged directly to you at cost.
10.4 Our total liability under any booking will not exceed the total price paid for that booking.
11. Risks and Responsibility
Walking and hiking carry inherent risks. By booking, you accept responsibility for your own physical fitness and medical condition, for following the provided GPS navigation, route notes, and safety guidance, for any medical expenses arising from illness or injury during the holiday, and for exercising reasonable care during all activities. You agree to indemnify OLHI against any claims relating to accidents, injuries, or incidents arising from your own conduct or from risks inherent to the activity.
12. Data Protection and GDPR
12.1 OLHI processes your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Spanish data protection law.
12.2 Personal data provided to us is used solely for the purpose of fulfilling your booking, communicating about your holiday, and, only with your consent, sending occasional marketing communications.
12.3 Your data will not be sold or shared with third parties except as necessary to deliver the services booked, for example hotels and transfer providers.
12.4 By participating in the holiday, you consent to being photographed or filmed during activities, and to these materials being used for promotional purposes. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us at info@onelifehike.com.
12.5 You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting info@onelifehike.com.
13. Complaints
If any aspect of your holiday does not meet your expectations, please notify OLHI immediately at the time of the issue, in person or by telephone (+34 612 562 545), so we have the opportunity to resolve it. Complaints not raised during the holiday cannot reasonably be rectified after the fact and may limit our ability to address them.
14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Catalonia.
